[Engagement] Yumi & Alan – Brooklyn, NY

On the evening prior to their session, they approached me with a few confessions: there was an incident involving kickboxing and an exposed-body-part-that-shall-not-be-named, along with some other minor issues. Hilarious. I know :). But I told them not to worry, because they picked one of the most awesome days this Spring for their engagement session. Even though I’m a born-and-bred Brooklynite, these folks showed me some hidden gems in Brooklyn that even I didn’t know about (and they’re from Queens and Manhattan!). Shame on me, seriously. But first, off to Vinegar Hill!

There’s actually a secret in this photo above. Does anyone know what it is?

A library inside a bar…with a bocce court. That’s what I call amazing!

After some liquid inspiration (the ones that involve hops and barley), we chased some colors around at Dekalb Market.

Not as many colors as we initially thought, but the lighting was marvelous! And judging by the length of those shadows, we were about to make some magic!

I call this the “Nameless Love Story On An Abandoned Train Movie Poster” – Written, directed and produced by Ben Lau, of course.

I told you magic was about to happen!

This session was the perfect storm of ingredients which made it absolutely amazing. When impeccable lighting, awesome weather, gorgeous backdrops and an adventurous couple converges in front of my lens, you’d probably see me shooting and bawling my eyes out at the same time – because it’s just that beautiful. Yumi and Alan, congratulations again on your engagement and thank you so much for inviting us along for the ride. We can’t wait to see you guys again in a few more months, and we hope you enjoy these images as much as we enjoyed capturing them!

Here’s to more perfect storms :)

Ben
