“You want to do what?!” I looked at them, trying to disguise my anxiety as best I could. But as my luck would have it, Andrea and James are mental health professionals who work with anxious people on a daily basis – and it was quite obvious at that very moment that I was experiencing a minor heart attack. While I loved everything about my old stomping grounds of Coney Island (the boardwalk, the rides, the game stalls, the art murals and the limitless supply of Nathan’s hot dogs), it’s no secret that I’m deathly terrified of heights and spinning rides. And yet here we were – about to hop onto a swinging carousel which would whirl us around 40ft in the air for 2 whole minutes. Long story short, I had 2 minutes to get it done – easy peasy :).
