When one thinks of Hoboken engagement sessions, the first thought is usually the Hoboken waterfront: both uptown and downtown views of the Manhattan skyline are equally spectacular, which generally makes for some exceptionally gorgeous photos. But here’s the thing: Kathleen & Chris would also likely be photographing their wedding day photos along the Hoboken waterfront – so what’s a couple to do? As we racked our brains for a bit of time, until it dawned upon me – “Do you have access to your rooftop?” I remember asking them. “I mean, how have we not thought of this?”
With a few quick pushes of the (elevator) button, we made our way to their surprisingly neat/orderly rooftop (probably the most safest and cleanest one I’ve ever encountered) and kicked off our session there. Shooting off the beaten path in/around Hoboken has always been on a bucket list of mine, and I was so thrilled that Kathleen & Chris were on 100% on board. As we wandered around the pristine cobblestone streets (which will now be my new super-secret shooting spot!), I got to hear about how these two college sweethearts fell in love, and found themselves eventually hanging their hats in one of the coolest neighborhoods in all of Hoboken. Any neighborhood within walking distance to a German biergarten is A+ in my book!
