When you run a “Mom & Pop” operation such as ours, the relationships you cultivate are key to the brand. Relationships, whether professional or romantic, all go through a similar progression. Sometimes you totally bomb the first conversation, and sometimes you totally hit it off. Sometimes there’s a little begging involved, usually there’s a little give-and-take, and before you know it – you surprisingly find yourself nervously chatting with the parents shortly thereafter (Whoa – that escalated quickly!). But if you’re genuine in your intentions, and pleasant in your demeanor, the universe has a funny way of rewarding all that positivity you keep in your life. This simple approach got me a wife, two very content in-laws, and a boatload of wonderful clients over the years. And just like dating/marriage, when we get into relationships with a clients – we’ve already mentally prepared ourselves for their family – it’s all part of the package! For Erica & Phil’s wedding at the Liberty House in Jersey City, our courtship would be no different :). Luckily for us, we all hit it off from the start, and we had a fabulous time getting to know their family (one of whom is also a fellow Terrapin, like yours truly!). On a slightly related note – a bride’s first look with dads should TOTALLY be a thing!
