There’s an long-running joke that it never rains when I’m shooting; or more specifically, when it’s time for me to shoot portraits. During the first few years of my career, it was practically raining every weekend. I suppose after a number of years getting pounded by cats and dogs falling out of the sky, Mother Nature felt like I had finally paid my dues. That being said, it’s been smooth sailing these past few years (for the most part). This is all good news for our clients, of course. The probability of a rain-less wedding is generally in their favor; even if we did have cats & dogs falling out of the sky, they would be in very capable, battle-tested hands. It’s quite a selling point for bringing us on board, if you ask me!
My long-standing record was about to be shattered when it came time for Laura and Jason to tie the knot for their Evergreen Country Club wedding in Northern Virginia. As rain clouds started to loom ominously overhead, I was pretty certain that I would finally have to eat my words that afternoon. But as I’d later discover (that evening during toasts), Jason’s quite the lucky guy himself: things just pretty much work out for him. Even if you had a necklace made of horseshoes and rabbits feet, all wrapped in a garland of four-leaf clovers, you still wouldn’t come close to being as lucky as this guy. Want more proof? Look no further than the (relatively) rain-less day he got to marry the woman of his dreams.
