- This was going to be a small, intimate, “easy” wedding (but of course, every bride tells us this. This particular one just so happened to be telling the truth.).
- It was going to take place at the Mohonk Mountain House, which was definitely on my bucket list of wedding destinations to shoot.
- There was going to be food…and possibly beer, but mostly food.
- There would be German speakers in attendance.

When I first decided to pursue a German degree in college*, someone should’ve given me a polite nudge and reminded me that this particular skill probably wouldn’t be as practical as say…medicine, engineering or even business management. Beyond my brief travels in Germany, as well as my occasional visits to the local biergartens here in the states, I’ve found very few opportunities to prove (at least to my parents) that I had in fact acquired a very useful skill as a result of my 4.5 ¼ per-productive years in college. It wasn’t till much later I discovered that all my newfound German friends spoke perfect English, as well as the sobering reality that I’ve only been to 3 biergartens in the past 15 years. Shnitzel anyone?
