When Uyen and Evan first reached out to us with their elopement plans, we were stoked. We love elopements, and I’ll tell you why. Our subjects are incredibly mobile, and we can focus on the core reasons why weddings exist int he first place: it’s a celebration of unity between two individuals who are head-over-heels in love with one another. No frills, no guest lists, no stress and certainly no pomp and circumstance. Up until a few weeks before the big day, everything was going according to Uyen and Evan’s master plan, and they were even able to accommodate some close friends and family members who wanted to celebrate this wonderful milestone with them. Easy peasy, right? I then get an email about a week before their big day (not verbatim):
Ben, There’s a bajillion people showing up now. And someone hired a DJ. Please advise!
You kidding me? With these newly developing details, I wouldn’t have missed this party for the world. My advice was the same for her as it would be for any other bride: just keep calm, and let yours truly handle it :).
