Ashley and Steven met about nearly a decade ago, back when she was bartending and he was a regular who hung around until closing time “just to make sure she got home safely.”

In reality, she was his ride home, lol.

Somehow, that turned into a decade of laughter, love, and shared inside jokes that no one else will ever understand.

Their fall wedding at Arrow Park in Monroe, NY couldn’t have suited them better - calm, genuine, and filled with the kind of people who make life lighter. No stress, no pretense, just an entire day of joy that felt like one long exhale.

And as if the universe knew, they caught the very last of peak fall color before the season gave its final bow. A perfect ending to one story, and the start of another!

Jon and Lauryn are celebrating eight years of marital bliss today. In that time, they’ve added three kids, one dog, a mortgage, a secret bourbon man-cave, an alarming number of watches, and of course - a whole lot of life.

I’ve been photographing them nearly every year since the parent’s engagement session. The kids practically know the routine at this point, but I brought bubbles and finger puppets “just in case”. When I tell all parents it gets easier, both the parenting part and the photo-taking part, I truly mean it.

This session was a breeze :).

Also….happy anniversary, you two. Wishing you both a million more!

Angelica and Joseph describe themselves as “awkward” people. Which is usually my cue to get everyone moving. So we spent most of this session running through tall grass and open fields at NJ Botanical Garden, and somewhere along the way, they eventually forget they’re being photographed.

Of course, flats are not required for this approach, but strongly recommended!

We caught peak fall color, perfect weather, and a whole lot of moments where they were just being themselves. That’s the goal every time!

Carver and Brian did their session at The High Line, which felt fitting considering how in sync they are with one another. They originally met as “roommates” while working as entertainers on a cruise ship. I’ll just let that marinate.

As fellow creatives/foodies, they told me they liked that my work felt different, almost like omakase: you show up, trust the chef, and see what happens.

And you know what? That’s probably the highest compliment any chef/photographer can possibly receive.

Looking back, I remember assuming they weren’t going to book me because they TOTALLY ghosted me for our first meeting. Turns out, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo were performing at the Oscars and these two lovebirds were understandably unavailable. What they didn’t realize was that as a musical theater nerd myself, I was hoping they might be late too BECAUSE I WAS DOING THE SAME EXACT THING. #greatmindsthinkalike

We wrapped the day by checking off one of my photography bucket list spots: Little Island. And you know what? I couldn’t have asked for a better pair to explore with.

Some sessions feel effortless. This was definitely one of them :).

This session was brought to you in part by wind, rain, and questionable decisions (on my part).

Julia and Sean had originally planned for a beach session in New Jersey, but a Nor’easter had other ideas. So we pivoted to a more obvious choice when it’s windy and rainy outside: the cliffs of Lake Minnewaska, where the forecast claimed only a 25% chance of rain. I love living dangerously.

Against my better judgment, and because I insist on making things more dramatic than necessary, I decided to put my newly learned rope-tying skills to the test again. Harness, grigri, the whole kit.

On the bright side, I’m definitely getting better at it!
