If folks didn’t know any better, they’d think I have some kinda thing going on with The Belvedere Hotel in Baltimore. With both of yesterday’s couples tying the knot there (albeit a year apart), I found myself there once again for Bailey and Chris’ engagement session. A few months ago, they had initially contacted us for just the session, but the thing is: we don’t normally offer engagement sessions as an a la carte service due to our demanding schedules. Just when I was about to reply with the bad news, we discovered some last minute cancellations on my calendar. And voila! These two love birds snatched those dates right up :).
They were looking for someone a little off-beat who shoots off the beaten path. As new transplants from Florida and Washington, they were also looking for someone who knew where all the cool spots were in Baltimore. So what are the chances that they’ll end up with the most un-coolest local-non-local photographer who’s been kicked out of every cool spot in Baltimore? Pretty high, apparently! But even then, there was some good news in store for them – being off-beat is kinda my specialty :).
In my life, I’ve only ever encountered a handful of people who were more spontaneous than me. I realize it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and most folks just come along for the ride. Not these two. Here I thought I was being adventurous with the casual mention of visiting the local zoo. Before I knew it, this happened. In fact, after that shot was taken, the rest of the engagement session involved a whole lotta of pulling-over and stopping wherever and whenever we felt inspired. There was one, actual location that we had planned on our itinerary, and we spent all of 5 minutes there :).
After Sandy swept through, we managed to find the last remaining path in Baltimore that still had leaves on the trees. Talk about good timing! Even more good news: after spending 5-6 hours with yours truly, they determined that this off-beat photographer was the perfect guy to capture their wedding day.
And of course, I humbly accepted :).
Congrats again Bailey and Chris, and thank you for allowing me to show you a glimpse of this Charm City. We hope you enjoyed these images and we can’t wait to see you guys again!
