As a born and bred Brooklynite, there’s very little that I knew beyond my own borough and Lower Manhattan. It’s nothing personal, really; I was only 13 when I left New York City and apparently there’s no easy/safe way to get from Brooklyn to the other outer boroughs via public transportation. I remember riding the public bus for 30-45 minutes just to get from Midwood to Bensonhurst, and they’re both in the same borough!  I really didn’t realize how little I knew about New York City until I became a photographer many years later. Nowadays, I find myself driving around all over NYC, including the outer boroughs – if not for work, than surely for eating! It’s as if I’ve become some sort of a tourist in my own hometown. The fact that I’m an Asian guy with a camera doesn’t help the stereotype at all. One of my most frequent destination these days has been Queens, our lovely neighbors to the North. And what do I know about Queens? To be honest, absolutely nothing. Aside from the fact that there are flying saucers from the World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows. Well that, and I got to finally see it person when we recently photographed Jessica and Jon’s engagement session!
We asked this nice lady if we could photograph her bike. She thought we meant with her in it.
She was awesome :).
