When you’ve been doing wedding photography for as long as we have, there’s always that one question that always seems to pop up several times a year: “Where’s your favorite place to photograph?”. Ladies & gentlemen, I’m here to tell you that you’ve been asking the wrong question this entire time. Having photographed my way around the western hemisphere over the years, I can unequivocally say that locations only “sorta kinda” matter [insert doubtful, wavering hand motions here]. The correct question is: “What are your favorite kinds of people to photograph?”, and the answer is “THESE PEOPLE!” [insert jazz hands here]. You know, the kind of people who love life as much as they love each other, folks who don’t take themselves too seriously, and simply want to have fun with their friends and family on one of the happiest days of their lives. When the chemistry between a couple is genuine and sincere, no amount of posing, direction or exotic locations are going to matter: that energy is just waiting to be captured in the photograph. Luckily for me, I was tasked for this honor, and was thrilled to have been an observer (and participant) of Carly & Chris’ fun wedding celebration at the Liberty House Restaurant in Jersey City, NJ. And of course, it doesn’t hurt that their gorgeous wedding venue boasts unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline. Just sayin’ :).
