I can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like to be an engaged couple trying to plan a wedding amidst an ongoing pandemic. On top of worrying about the health and safety of guests, the re-opening guidelines prescribed by federal, state and local officials have made it nearly impossible to coordinate a team of vendors who don’t even know what the rules are (here’s the rub: nobody really knows!). But here’s what we did know:
- There’s a very serious, real bug going around and we all need to consider the health & safety of our family and friends, as well as the health & safety of our fellow humans.
- Masks are our friends!
- Jess & Eric were going to get married, one way or another :).
What was originally meant to be a big celebration pre-pandemic evolved into a much smaller, intimate ceremony in a NYC park when the whole world shut down. Roughly a week before the big day, it somehow evolved into an intimate backyard event in the bride’s childhood home in Northern NJ. And quite honestly, I think this was the #bestideaever.
It was everything I imagined a backyard wedding would be, a pandemic notwithstanding. With an intimate guestlist comprised of only the most closest relatives and friends, along with the very first Best Man & Maid of Honor toasts delivered by Zoom that I’ve EVER seen, I couldn’t imagine a better way to kick off the next chapter of Jess & Eric’s lives together. And if you think that’s impressive, this family planned this whole darn thing in less than a month! How’s THAT for wedding planning for ya?!?
