When Karis and I walked into the groom’s suite, we were only slightly alarmed to see the best man wearing a neck brace and the groom drinking directly from a bottle of Jack Daniels. At this point, the only thing we were missing was a loose tiger, Mike Tyson and a baby strapped to one of the groomsmen. Though as wedding photographers, we’re somewhat used to seeing a few drinks (along with a little bit of chaos) on the morning of such a big day, Marc took it to a whole other level by popping a few painkillers before washing it down with another swig from his bottle; followed by a grimace more twisted than the one before it. By the time his limo arrived (2 hours later), Marc and his best man had successfully finished off the entire bottle, much to the concern of the remaining groomsmen. A part of me was also mildly amused/concerned, but another part of me was also morbidly curious to see how this was all going to end.
Long story short, it turns out that Marc had switched out the alcohol with tea, and that Marc had been wanting to do this prank for as long as he could remember (the Best Man’s neck injury was faked too). Bravo – well done, gentlemen :). In true, unfiltered Marc fashion, he spent the remainder of the day humoring everyone around him (a responsibility I was all too happy to relinquish to the groom). It was the perfect way to celebrate their wedding at Old Tappan Manor that day, and we were so honored (and entertained!) to be a part of it.
