This was not the same South Street Seaport that I knew while growing up on the other side of the East River. The tragedy of Sandy gave New Yorkers the opportunity to breathe new life into this beautiful, yet mysterious place filled with hidden cobblestone streets, centuries-old wharves and history galore. Shops and restaurants now line the streets below the FDR, with a few organic coffee brewers sprinkled in between. This is the place where Melissa & Jason currently hang their hats, and I’m super envious of them for it. I mean seriously….you can’t beat that view (of Brooklyn!).
