After photographing 100+ weddings these past few years, we often get asked: “Do you still get nervous when shooting weddings?” The honest answer is a resounding, unequivocal “YES!” While our experiences allow us to become better photographers from a technical standpoint (lighting, scouting, technical-fluency), those same experiences don’t necessarily prepare us for wedding-day surprises that may throw us off our rhythm on the day of (folks running late, unpredictable weather, mother-of-groom getting a flat tire, etc). Throw in the fact that our groom is also a photographer, this pre-existing anxiety is multiplied a million-fold. It’s like cooking a meal for Gordon Ramsay, knowing that another talented aficionado is watching your every move. Fortunately for us, we were pretty much free of surprises on Marilyn and Taylor’s wedding day. Not to mention, Taylor is definitely more well-spoken/well-composed than our friend Gordon Ramsay :). In fact, these are two of the most laid-back folks we’ve ever had the pleasure of documenting, and they literally gave us free reign to explore the limits of our creative license. Humbled, empowered, and unreservedly excited, we began documenting their wedding day at the Somerset Hills Hotel with a quick trip to a driving range nearby.
And some photo booth fun!
