I seldom speak in superlatives because it implies so much certainty and conviction that sometimes leaves expectations unmanageable. However I must say, Lisa and Kai are probably two of the most kindest people we’ve ever had the pleasure of documenting. When you’re in the service industry such as ours, we are usually the ones doing the accommodating; and here we had Lisa and Kai who made every effort to ensure our needs were met throughout the day. Wha-what? Case in point: when they realized we hadn’t eaten all day, Kai personally went into the kitchen HIMSELF and brought out three plates of food for me and my assistants! It was totally unnecessary, but totally appreciated. These guys totally win the 2012 award for most thoughtful couple ever!
If anyone’s been following our photography for any amount of time, it’s no secret that we love unique backdrops for everything we shoot. While I still firmly believe that subjects trump backdrops when composing great images, I still have a great love affair for beautiful architecture. And as my luck would have it, Lisa is a real-life architect who shares this same love for compelling and inspirational spaces. Enter: The Foundry in Long Island City, NY. There were enough brick arches and glass framework to leave me dazzled for a lifetime.
Lisa and Kai’s day started at the Z Hotel, located just down the street.
I’m a guy, and even I find those shoes sinfully awesome :).
And of course, as it is with 99% of weddings – the men get ready just shortly before heading out the door :).
And of course, no party’s complete without some photobooth fun :).
This is what I get for buying props Made in country-that-shall-not-be named.
Lisa and Kai, thank you so much for sharing your day with us. We wish you two many, many years of love, happiness and more eye-candy (architectural, each other, or both!) than you could ever imagine. We hope you enjoy these images as much as we enjoyed capturing them, and this day wouldn’t have been possible without the help of this AWESOME team that Lisa and Kai assembled for their special day (we HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend each and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them!):

Lisa and Kai’s awesome fun-filled celebration marked the last wedding Karis shot before her maternity “leave”, which she’s been spending on the mountain of post-processing we’ve piled up this summer. I really do have the most awesome partner in the whole world. As of this writing, Baby #2 still hasn’t made his arrival! Due date is tomorrow. I suppose we can wait one more day :).
Happy Monday ya’ll and stay tuned for more summer wedding fun!
