I like to tell my colleagues that despite my suit & tie, camera equipment and fancy job description, I’m very much in the service industry. Out of the 365 days in a year, I’m only shooting for roughly 1/3 of them; I’m running a service-based business for the other 220(ish) days. This means I spend a vast majority of my time making sure our clients feel like they’re the most important people in the world, mostly by paying attention to the little things. So you could imagine that heartwarming feeling I felt when Sophia & Dave offered me donuts on our first meeting. I mean seriously: (1) Somebody certainly did their homework. (2) I’m the one who’s supposed to be showering clients with gifts!
As fellow artists, I was especially humbled that they had chosen me to help document their day. And in true artist form, they opted for somewhat of a less-traditional route for their wedding venue – The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. It was raining when we left our house that morning, but I wasn’t worried. We arrived later that morning on (or pretty much close to) schedule, with a parking spot in front of her hotel to boot. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking, people :).
