“Does it make your job difficult when couples are super boring?” she asked, as I directed them towards a colorful mural along a quiet street. Always the diplomat, I explained that my primary objective as a wedding photographer is to capture the love & joy in people, in that very moment, and that different types of people manifest these feelings and emotions into images in different ways. That’s the professional answer, anyway. “It’s a judgment-free zone when my camera comes out.” I told her, which happened to be the God-honest truth. She looked at me again, with a no-BS look on her face, and I naturally relented. Well…duh, of course boring people are more difficult to direct/photograph; they don’t respond well to direction and they have an aversion to corny/cheesy dad jokes (and I’ve got tons of them). But lucky for me, we don’t book boring clients :). Exhibit A: Andrea & Matt. Exhibit B: some drinking was involved in the making of this engagement session in Williamsburg. Boring people don’t generally partake in such irresponsible, unprofessional behavior :).
