One of the favorite questions I like to ask my couples is: “Where did you guys meet?” Â It not only provides an in-depth perspective into one of the most personal and intimate time of their lives together, but this question also allows me to be occasionally nosey and guilt free all at the same time (cha-ching!). Some years ago, Esther was a NJ transplant who found herself settling right in the middle of the nation’s capital. During that same time, Erik was a cable guy. More specifically…he was Esther’s cable guy. While this may sound like the preface to a very (hilariously) racy, salacious affair, it was actually very sweet and wholesome. He offered his personal contact information to this beautiful woman with the cable TV problem, and generously made himself fully available should she have any more problems with her tv reception. As luck would have it, she did call back – and the rest was history!
Their original choice of venue was actually the same place where Karis and I got hitched back in 2008, at the Palace in Somerset Park, NJ. It’s for this reason these Northern Virginians found themselves in the company of these NJ wedding photographers :). While we would’ve loved to revisit the venue where we tied the knot so many years ago, we were just as excited to hear that Esther and Erik had decided on having a destination wedding instead. NJ venue or not, it also appeared that we were going with them as well! AWESOME-SAUCE!
We started their engagement session in the Northern Virginia apartment. Erik played some music for us to set the mood.
As usual, she was smitten as a kitten :).
After a few chords and a few laughs, we took the streets of Old Town Alexandria for the remainder of their engagement session.
Esther and Erik were so fabulously awesome and I had so much fun wandering these old cobble stone streets with them! We hope hope you enjoy these images as much as we enjoyed capturing them. Can’t wait to see you guys next year!
As for us here at Ben Lau Photography HQ, we’ve got two sick Lil Monsters and two very tired parents (and I’ll have to poke Karis with a stick every few hours to make sure she’s alive). I’ve got one more wedding to go this year, so I’m sucking down as much OJ and vitamins as I can (safely, of course)!
Happy Tuesday, ya’ll :).
