Lauren + Tony :: New York, NY :: Engagement Session

Lauren and Tony met when they were in college, working together at the same bar. Oh, the stories they could (most probably) tell :). While I divulged some of my trade secrets in the world of wedding photography, I learned so much about heavy-handed bartenders (and how to get/find them!), the proper way to pour a beer (yes, there is a way!), and what the incredibly wealthy do with their pocket money (Tony’s their guy!). Surprisingly, these are the moments that I cherish most when I do these engagement sessions with our clients. The more comfortable they are with me, the more comfortable they’ll be with my gimungo camera in their faces – both throughout their engagement sessions AND their wedding day.

Central Park should give me my own parking space soon :).

The second leg of our adventure took us Midtown: these photos to be revealed on the wedding day :).

I’ve actually seen this overlook in other photos, but never actually knew where it was on the High Line…till now :).

Lauren and Tony were probably one of the most skilled at employing the 95% rule: that is, bringing their faces together just 95% of the way to an “almost kiss”. I allowed a few actual smooches to completion between takes, because I can’t imagine anyone to practice that kind of restraint for a few hours with their loved ones within kissing distance :). But for their own good, smooching for a few hours (with your photographer in tow!) can also be very tiring. After all, they had a 3 hour drive back home after the session was finished!

It is with great pleasure to announce that Lauren and Tony are the VERY FIRST couple to have been captured by yours truly in front of Times Square; this could quite possibly be one of the most difficult places to shoot because there are ALWAYS people around, not to mention the impossibility of parking. We waited for a good 15-20 minutes on that intersection (which might explain how we were spotted by the Naked Cowboy) for it to clear out. Patience wins again, my friends :). Lauren and Tony, I hope you guys enjoy these images as much as we enjoyed capturing them. We can’t wait to see you guys again in the Fall!
